Tenancy Support Project – Gateshead

The Tenancy Support Scheme is a flexible support service for people over 18 years of age, living within Gateshead who are experiencing difficulties maintaining their tenancies due to substance and/or alcohol misuse, or who need support to access suitable accommodation. Pre-tenancy support can be provided for people without settled accommodation. The service aims to ensure that individual clients maintain control and choice over their lives enabling them to maximise life-opportunities and achieve independence and stability.The Project has an open referral route, and applicants can self-refer.

Supported Housing Project – Wansbeck

The Supported Housing Project in Wansbeck has been developed in partnership between NECA, Wansbeck Homes and The Addictions Services. The Project provides short–term, fully furnished, supported accommodation to single people who are homeless or whose current accommodation prevents a recovery from substance dependency. All tenants will have completed, or be in the process of completing, a treatment programme for drug and / or alcohol dependency. Applicants must be age 18 years or over and from the Wansbeck Area. The scheme provides a period of support and life-skills training prior to independent living.A range of Agencies refer into the Service including the Addictions Services, DIP and Probation.

Housing Project – Sunderland

The NECA Supported Housing project is a partnership between Gentoo, NECA and Sunderland Social Services Drug and Alcohol Team. The project aims to provide short–term, fully furnished accommodation to single people who are homeless or whose current accommodation prevents recovery from substance dependency, who would benefit from a period of support and life skills training prior to independent living. All tenants will have completed or be in the process of completing a treatment programme for drug and/or alcohol dependency. Applicants must be age 18 years or over and be from the Sunderland area.

Floating Support Project – Sunderland

The Floating Support service is available to people over 18 years of age, living within the Sunderland area who are experiencing difficulties maintaining their tenancies due to substance and/or alcohol misuse, or who need support to access suitable accommodation. The Project provides a flexible tenancy support service to people in their own homes or tenancies, with the aim of enabling or maintaining independence. Pre-tenancy support can be provided for people without settled accommodation who are dealing with alcohol misuse issues. The service aims to ensure that clients develop greater control and choice over their lives enabling them to achieve increased independence.The Project has an open referral route, and applicants can self refer.

Floating Support Project – Newcastle

The Newcastle Floating Support Project works in close partnership with (YHN) Your Homes Newcastle. The Project provides both tenancy and pre-tenancy support to people who are working to address substance and/or alcohol misuse issues, and is available to people over 18 years of age who are living across the district of Newcastle. The Service is contracted to work with 30 clients and has developed close working relationships with wide a range of external agencies. The Project is currently developing and a range of service user involvement initiatives. Support is tailored to meet each client’s individual needs and can be provided for a period of up to 2 years.The Project also offers access to all of NECA’s Core Services.
