Alcohol Awareness

This training will improve participants basic understanding and awareness of alcohol, including why people use alcohol and the associated problems. Participants will also increase their understanding of alcohol levels, through unit calculations and how the body processes alcohol.

Drug Awareness

This will improve participants basic understanding and awareness of all drugs. The subjects covered within this include: types of drugs and their associated problems, as well as offering an understanding of why people use drugs and the effects of drug use, and signs and symptoms of drug use.

Boundary training

This training will offer participants the knowledge and understanding of personal and professional boundaries, which also includes the importance of boundaries and how they should be established. The training will also challenge individuals as to how boundaries can be broken, and how this can be dealt with effectively to ensure that a good working practice is kept.

Blood Borne Virus Awareness

The course provides a foundation for understanding of Blood Borne Viruses, providing explanations of what the conditions are and how they occur. The course will provide information on transmission, testing, confidentiality and health and safety, and also information on universal precautions and attitudes and values.

Harm Reduction

This training is for individuals working with injecting drug users, and offers the key skills to safely handle and dispose of sharps and sharps equipment. The course covers key elements on appropriate procedures in handling equipment which could be contaminated. The training will also offer advice on how to deal with injuries.

Assessment & Care Planning

A two day course designed for workers completing assessments on clients. This course will offer those attending an overview of the assessment process, its importance and enable them to understand the benefits of assessments. Participants will also gain an understanding of how intrusive this process can be. This will also include objective writing and risk assessing a client.

Group Work

Dealing with Aggressive and Abusive behaviour

This training will allow participants to deal effectively with potential and actual aggressive and abusive behaviours from others. The course defines what aggression, abuse and violence are, as well as exploring the causes and triggers to this behaviour . The training will also allow participants to understand the process of this behaviour and what interventions could be used in the situation.

This course will provide participants with the confidence needed to deal with all situations. Presentation Skills

A two day introductory course for staff at all levels who are new to making presentations as part of their work. The course is intended to provide a framework to develop skills and confidence in future presentations.
