The role of the service is to target offenders mis-using drugs through referral routes such as police custody suites, courts, probation and prisons to offer rapid access to holistic treatment provisions. The team works in an outreach manner which seeks to make contact with hard to reach substance mis-users.
The service can offer:
A county wide service.
- A service that is tailored to address service users’ specific needs.
- An accessible, confidential scheme for service users seeking support into and during treatment.
- A beginning to end support system with brief interventions and motivational interviewing that can direct drug using offenders out of crime and into treatment.
- Advice, information and education.
- Workers will facilitate rapid and appropriate access into other services.
- Workers will offer support to service users who are entering into treatment and during treatment.
- Workers will offer aftercare support to service users who are leaving prison, finishing a community order or who have completed community treatment programmes; looking at education, employment, finance, housing, family relationships, health as well as offending behaviour and drug use.
