Sunderland Supported Housing Project

The Supported Housing project is a partnership between Sunderland Housing Group, NECA and Sunderland Social Services Drug and Alcohol Team.

Aiming to provide short –term, fully furnished, supported accommodation to single people who are homeless or whose current accommodation prevents a recovery from substance dependency, who would benefit from a period of support and life skills training prior to independent living.

All of the tenants will have completed or be in the process of completing a treatment programme for drug and/or alcohol dependency. Applicants must be age 18 years or over and be from the Sunderland Area.

09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday.
An Out of Hours On-Call service is provided for Tenants 17.00 to 09.00 Monday to Friday with a 24 hour service provided at weekends.

 

Sunderland Floating Support Housing scheme

The Floating Support Scheme is a flexible peripatetic service providing or facilitating a range of low to medium support to people in their own homes or tenancies, with the aim of enabling or maintaining independence.

The service aims to ensure that individual clients maintain control and choice over their lives enabling them to maintain their tenancy and achieve greater independence and stability.

The service is for people over 18 years of age, in receipt of housing benefit, living within the Sunderland area, who are experiencing difficulties maintaining their tenancies due to substance misuse.

09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday. - Support work with clients can be undertaken outside of office hours if required.

 

SILS The Semi-Independent Living Service

The SILS project work in partnership with the Newcastle City Council Housing Department. We currently support 18 tenants in Walker and Byker.

The aim of the project is to support people with chronic substance misuse for the first year of their fully furnished tenancy.

We also offer access to all of the Core Services within NECA and provide activities on a weekly basis.

Wansbeck Supported Housing Project

This is a partnership between NECA and The Community Substance Misuse Service (CSMS).

The project aim is to provide short –term, fully furnished, supported accommodation to single people who are homeless or whose current accommodation prevents a recovery from substance dependency., The schem provides a period of support and life skills training prior to independent living. All of the tenants will have completed, or in the process of completing, a treatment programme for drug and / or alcohol dependency.

Applicants must be age 18 years or over, and be from the Wansbeck Area.

Referrals are currently from a range of agencies (CSMS, DIP Team).
