Who are we?

NECA Training Ltd has over 35 years experience of working within the substance misuse sector, and is recognised throughout the region as specialist within our area of expertise.

What is the aim of the course?

To raise awareness of alcohol and brief interventions which would help individuals in the community.

What are the learning outcomes?

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Have a raised awareness of alcohol, units and healthy levels of consumption
  • Understand the physical, psychological and pharmacological impact of alcohol use
  • Be aware of what motivates people to drink sensibly and how this can improve lifestyles
  • Understand the Cycle of Change and interventions which can be used in accordance with this
  • Be aware of alcohol withdrawal and coping strategies
  • Be aware of the variation of treatment options, local services and referral pathways

How much is the course and who is it relevant for?

Free for all South of Tyne and Wear staff/volunteers who have direct contact with members of the public, offering advice on a range of issues, including reducing alcohol intake. Delegations will be working/volunteering within the Statutory, Voluntary & Community Sector:

How long is the course?

One day training course, followed by completion of modules via distance learning

Do I need to bring any materials?

Everything you need to complete this accredited training will be provided for you

What will the training be like?

Informal and informative. You will be engage in a variety of activities, using group work and exercise.

Is lunch provided?

No, only refreshments will be provided

What do I need to do to achieve the qualification?

You must complete pre-course documentation and bring with you to the training course. You will attend the day’s training, which will be followed by the completion of an additional assignment, which is sent to the tutor. Once all modules are assessed, confirmation of the qualification will be sent to you.
